RRR’s Naatu Naatu wins Best Original Song at the Oscars

The 95th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles saw the triumph of the Indian movie RRR. Its song, Naatu Naatu, won the Oscar for Best Original Song, a feat that was not unexpected. The award was shared by composer MM Keeravaani and lyricist Chandrabose. The song beat tough competition from popular tracks like Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand, Rihanna’s Lift Me Up, This Is A Life, and Applause.

RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, was represented at the event by the actors and their team. This was the second win for an Indian film at the Oscars after The Elephant Whisperers won the Best Documentary Short Subject award. All That Breathes was also nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film, but the Oscar was won by Navalny.

After Naatu Naatu’s win, celebrities from the Indian film fraternity, including Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, AR Rahman, Hrithik Roshan, and Mahesh Babu, congratulated the RRR team on social media.

Naatu Naatu’s win at the Oscars follows its success at the Golden Globes in January, where it won the Best Original Song award. The song was performed at the Oscars by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava and choreographed by Lauren Gottlieb. Deepika Padukone introduced the performance and became the third Indian presenter after Persis Khambatta and Priyanka Chopra.

Keeravaani and Chandrabose join a prestigious group of Indians who have won Oscars, including Bhanu Athaiya, AR Rahman, Gulzar, Resul Pookutty, and Satyajit Ray. Naatu Naatu and RRR make history as the first Indian song and movie to win an Oscar.

RRR is a period movie set in British India that has won fans worldwide. The movie has been running to full houses in Japan, and its largest screening was recently held in a Los Angeles cinema where the audience danced along to Naatu Naatu. The song features a dance battle between the characters Raju and Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR, and their British counterparts, with Raju and Bheem emerging victorious.
