The second installment of the epic drama film Ponniyin Selvan has had a successful opening weekend, collecting Rs 80 crore in its first three days in theatres. The film has passed the crucial Monday test as well, earning a double-digit collection of Rs 24 crore on its fourth day, taking its domestic total to Rs 105.02 crore and crossing the coveted Rs 100 crore mark. The film, based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s five-part novel series, has also crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide. With good response in the Tamil-speaking belt of the country, and no competition in sight, Ponniyin Selvan 2 is expected to continue its upward trend in the coming days. The star-studded cast includes Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Rahman, and Vikram Prabhu.
