On the occasion of Tamil actor Vikram’s birthday, the makers of the upcoming period drama “Thangalaan” released a making video. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the movie is inspired by true events surrounding the lives of mine workers in Kolar gold fields. Vikram plays the leader of a small tribe and went through a dramatic physical transformation, losing weight and muscle to fit the role.
The video showcases glimpses of the world of “Thangalaan” and focuses on Vikram’s character. The film also stars Parvathy and Malavika Mohanan, among others, and is set for release later this year.

Vikram is also awaiting the release of Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan 2,” in which he plays Aditha Karikalan. In a throwback video shared on Twitter last November, Vikram thanked Ratnam for inspiring him to play memorable roles.
